Mission Statement
The Mission of the Benton County Sheriff’s Office is to safeguard life and property, preserve the peace, prevent and detect crime, enforce the law, and protect the rights of all citizens. All members of the Benton County Sheriff’s Office are committed to working in partnership with our community and to identify and resolve issues that impact public safety.

Annual Reports
The Sheriff's Office publishes an annual report as a reference guide for the year in review. The report offers a comparison of reported activity measurements.
Office of Professional Standards
The Office of Professional Standards (OPS) has an established system to receive complaints and investigate those complaints. We also have the responsibility of initiating disciplinary action when appropriate. Our goal is to resolve the issues in a thorough, timely, courteous manner.

The Sheriff's Office is located in the Benton County Justice Center at 7122 W. Okanogan Place, Bldg. #A120, Kennewick, Washington 99336. The Sheriff's Office also maintains a business office in the Prosser courthouse.
The current population of Benton County is approximately 198,171 with about 39,461 people residing in unincorporated areas. The county covers 1722 square miles, which includes the 420 square miles encompassing the Hanford Nuclear Reservation. In addition to providing services to the residents of Benton County, the sheriff's office provides basic law enforcement services to Benton City and the Hanford Nuclear Reservation.
