Anyone wishing to contact an inmate in the Benton County Jail should be advised that the jail does not accept incoming calls for inmates. The following opportunities exist for communicating with our inmates:
US Mail
Mail sent to inmates via the US Postal Service needs to be addressed with the inmate’s name written as it appears on the Inmate Roster. Sample:
- Inmate’s Name
- Housing Unit (If known)
- Benton County Jail
- 7122 W Okanogan Place, #B110
- Kennewick, WA 99336
Staff will make reasonable efforts to identify the inmate for whom the mail is intended. Mail not adequately addressed and for whom the intended recipient cannot be identified will be returned to the sender with the reason for return noted on the outside of the envelope.
Incoming mail for inmates must have a return address as defined by the USPS, including an identifiable first and last name. Mail without a return address will be rejected.
Phone
Funding Phone Calls
Friends and family may deposit funds into an inmate's commissary account to be used for phone calls or for any other allowed purpose. Alternatively, friends and family can deposit money to their own account and fund a specific phone number.

Visitation
Video visitation is now conducted on demand, and is initiated by the inmate. They have access to a tablet for video visitation during times that they are allowed out of their cell and in the dayroom. You will be able to coordinate times with your loved one via phone calls or text messages. Each inmate receives 30 minutes of free video visitation per week. After that video visitation can be paid for either by friends and family, or the inmate may use their commissary account to pay for additional visitation time. To participate in video visitation you will need to create an account with GettingOut and download their app to a smartphone, tablet, or computer with a webcam.
To deposit money on your own account you can go to www.gettingout.com or call 866-516-0115. Depositing money on your own account will allow you to pay for visitation between you and the inmate but will not allow them to use those funds to visit with anyone other than you.
Messaging
Text messaging is also available on the inmate tablets. To use messaging, you will need to create an account with ViaPath via their website www.gettingout.com.
