Volunteers are critical to the success of Benton County Canine Shelter, and our volunteer team is comprised of scores of animal lovers who are committed to improving the lives of animals in our community. Volunteers allow us to stretch our resources, expand our programs, and help us to save more lives. The volunteering of your time and energy to Benton County Canine Shelter can be both rewarding and emotionally fulfilling; not to mention extremely helpful to the facility staff and the animals we serve. Please note that you MUST be 18 years old to volunteer with us.
Donate Your Time at Benton County Canine Shelter
You can assist in the following:
Dog Walking & Animal Care
Help to increase the adoptability of the dogs in our care by working with specific, positive reinforcement techniques to encourage them to display desired behaviors. Volunteers are trained to encourage the dogs to focus, sit, and walk well on leash while working with dogs during exercise and socialization time. This can be a very physical, outdoor job and many of the dogs are untrained. Some experience with dogs is helpful as the facility takes in many different breeds and sizes of dogs. Volunteers should have basic knowledge of dog behavior and be able to safely handle dogs at all times.
