E-Filing (TrueFiling) is now available for use for the Benton County Clerk's Office
TrueFiling is for filing documents with the Benton County Clerk's Office. TrueFiling is an optional program for submitting documents for filing which has fees associated with its use. If you wish not to pay these additional fees you may file your documents via US Mail, courier or in-person.
Bench copies are NOT to be submitted via TrueFiling. Please contact Superior Court Administration for information about submitting bench copies.

Important information for filing:- A COMPLETED Case Information Coversheet is REQUIRED for filing a new case. If a Case Information Coversheet is not provided, your filing will be rejected. You can find Case Information Coversheets at: Washington State Courts -Court Forms - List of All Forms.
- Case numbers from 2018 to present are currently loaded into TrueFiling. Older cases numbers may not be loaded into TrueFiling. If you are unable to upload your documents due to the case number, please email clerk@co.benton.wa.us. Please allow 24 hours for us to upload the case information into TrueFiling.
- If your filing is rejected, all fees will be refunded EXCEPT the credit card processing fee.
- A bundle fee of $5 will be charged per case number for documents submitted using TrueFiling.
- TrueFiling is a 3rd party vendor that houses documents submitted electronically. Upon submission, you will receive an email from TrueFiling confirming your submission. Documents are not considered filed with the Benton County Clerk's Office upon submission of the documents to TrueFiling.
- Once reviewed by Clerk’s Office staff, you will receive an email from TrueFiling indicating that your documents are accepted (filed) or rejected (not filed).
- Documents submitted using TrueFiling after 3:00 pm will not be reviewed by Clerk's Office staff until the next judicial day. You are strongly encouraged to file documents in person or using a 3rd party process server if you are concerned about a deadline.
- Documents filed for Ex Parte action - please allow 48 hours for processing. Conformed copies of documents presented for Ex Parte action through TrueFiling will need to be ordered via our website, www.bentonclerkpr.com by completing the copy request form. Questions about Ex Parte presented documents should be emailed to clerk@co.benton.wa.us.
- Documents needing to be filed for a Noon cut-off time for an upcoming docket should be filed in-person at the Clerk's Office to ensure they meet your deadline.
- You will receive an e-mail confirmation of your document's filing upon acceptance.
- Clerk's Office Policy Re: Documents Received for Filing.
- Civil Protection Order (CPO's) documents and all documents related to CPO's - please see this webpage for instructions for filing. TrueFiling is not used for filing CPO related documents.
- (NEW) Items not accepted via TrueFiling, these documents MUST be filed in paper form:
- Documents being filed in a SEALED case
- Writs of Garnishment
- Writs of Restitution / Execution
- Writs of Habeas Corpus
- Orders for Sale (Sheriff's Sales)
- Joel's Law Petitions
- Documents Re: Blake Decision
- Foreign Subpoenas
- Registration of Out of State Custody
- Trial Exhibits
Document requirements:
- All documents should be submitted at a resolution of 300dpi to ensure the best quality of the scanned document.
- Documents or images must be bitonal (black & white). Any grayscale or color images are automatically converted to bitonal. For any grayscale or color images, please submit the document in its entirety, in-person at our office or mail to the Benton County Clerk at 7122 W. Okanogan Place, Ste. A210, Kennewick, WA 99336.
- Multiple documents submitted should be separated by document type or they will be rejected.
