Decorum for Litigants Appearing via WebEx
- The attorney/litigant must be in an office or room with proper lighting. There should not be any distractions (noise or other things) occurring in the background.
- The attorney/litigant must be dressed as if they are appearing in the courtroom in person.
- The attorney/litigant must have their camera on when addressing the court. You may be asked to turn off your camera if video quality is affected.
- The attorney/litigant must mute their microphone when not speaking.
- The attorney/litigant will be allowed to speak only when prompted by the court.
- The attorney/litigant should ask to sign off before signing off to make sure they do not have any other cases to call or issues to resolve.
- The attorney is responsible for a client’s behavior while participating. An attorney’s client will not be allowed to speak unless prompted by the court.
- Working copies of the motion, supporting documents, any responses, and proposed orders must be uploaded to eMotion as required by Local Rules. Review Benton Franklin Counties Superior Court Local Rules.
- The attorneys/litigants are encouraged to confer before the hearing to identify, and perhaps resolve, issues that otherwise may slow their hearing.
- If the parties are not ready or are not present when the court starts the docket/hearing, the court reserves the right in a civil matter to decide the matter without oral argument, and in all matters the court reserves the right to continue the matter, or to strike the matter from the docket without prejudice.
- If a party’s internet connection is poor and the court is unable to view, hear or understand an attorney or litigant, the court reserves the right in a civil matter to decide the matter without oral argument, and in all matters the court reserves the right to continue the matter, or to strike the matter from the docket without prejudice.

Instuctions for Litigants Appearing via WebEx
If you wish to participate in or view court proceedings, please click on the Courtroom WebEx link [ HERE] for appropriate courtroom. You will be placed in a "lobby" and only allowed in when you have identified yourself as outlined at: Participating via WebEx
The first time you join a court proceeding, you will be prompted to download the appropriate software from WebEx (or prompted to download the appropriate IOS or Android app if you are using a tablet or phone). WebEx require you to identify yourself and to provide a valid email address if participating by video conference. Use only your real name and email address to create your WebEx account.
For mobile application, you are required to obtain permission by filling out a Request to Appear Telephonically. If approved, you will receive a response with instructions.
The Benton Franklin Counties Superior Court does not have any control over the information WebEx requires in order to appear or view court proceedings via the WebEx platform.
Similar to a person physically going to the courthouse and looking inside the courtroom to identify what matters are before the court, you will need to click on the link to “look inside” the courtroom to determine what matter is being presented in a courtroom at any given time.
Troubleshooting WebEx
The Court does not have staff to assist litigants and/or attorneys with connecting to the courtrooms using WebEx videoconferencing or telephone. Please use WebEx Audio Troubleshooting to assist you with any WebEx connection issues. Please review WebEx instructions the day before your scheduled hearing. If you continue to have issues connecting or navigating WebEx videoconferencing or telephone, you will need to attend in person.
