Washington State has updated its supervised visitation requirements under RCW 26.09.191, effective July 27, 2025, following the passage of House Bill 1620.
- Professionally Supervised Visitation. On occasion, the court will order professionally supervised visitation. The court has approved the following agencies for both Benton and Franklin Counties. If the court orders "professionally supervised visits," the following agency are approved without further order.
- Each of the approved agencies follow the requirements outlined by DCYF/CPS. The approved agencies provide written reports after the visits, operate during a variety of hours/days, and facilitate services for professionally supervised exchanges. - Supervised Visitation (Non-Professional). On occasion, the court will order that one or both parents' visitation will be supervised. Family or friends, if qualified, can be called upon to serve as supervisors upon completion of the written guidelines, as required.
- Written Guidelines Required. Both the supervisor and the supervised parent must agree to these in writing before the first visit.
Important! No visits shall take place until the supervised parent and supervisor (or representative of a professional supervision program) have signed this form (below) and the supervised parent provides a signed copy to the other parent and the supervisor.
