The volunteer BFJJC Guardian Ad Litem Program serves as an independent advocate for abused/neglected children involved in a dependency action.  Volunteers are appointed by the court to investigate, gather information, provide written reports and make recommendations regarding the child's best interests.  Volunteers are recruited, trained and supported by staff.

BFJJC GAL Application and Instructions

Become a Volunteer Child Advocate!

You can make a lifelong difference for a vulnerable child. Become a Guardian ad Litem (GAL) for abused and neglected children ages 0-8 years. You will advocate by gathering information; writing reports to the court; and visiting the child’s family, placement, social workers, teachers and parents.

The next online 4-week GAL core training session is scheduled via Zoom for March 6th thru March 29th, Mondays - Thursdays. Trainees may register to attend the morning sessions from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm or the evening sessions from 5:30 pm to 7:30 p.m. We provide GAL advocates the tools and ongoing support to be successful in their role representing a child.

PLEASE MAKE A DIFFERENCE BY VOLUNTEERING…A FOSTER CHILD IS WAITING!  EVERY CHILD DESERVES A SAFE, LOVING, PERMANENT HOME.
