For over 75 years, the Benton County Fairgrounds and McDaniel Arena have stood as a cornerstone of the community, drawing visitors near and far and fueling economic growth. To preserve the legacy of the facility and to meet modern demands, the arena is poised for a comprehensive renovation that will revitalize the facility for generations to come and drive more economic benefits.
The current infrastructure is aging and in need of critical updates. The planned remodel will ensure the Fairgrounds and Event Center remain safe, welcoming, and capable of hosting larger scale events that serve the entire community. The renovation also reflects the venue’s expanding role in the regional economy and substantial growth for the area.
Parking Lot Improvements - completed
The renovation will begin with a multiphase approach, starting with $3 Million in parking lot improvements that are currently underway. This initial phase focuses on improving accessibility, adding new lighting, and boosting safety for all visitors.
The parking lot improvements have been completed as of July 2025.
Grandstands at McDaniel Arena Update
The second phase of the improvements will include $12 Million in upgrades to the iconic grandstand at McDaniel Arena. Improvements include doubling seating capacity from 3,000 to 6,000 with a new grandstand structure, modernizing restroom facilities, and enhancing public access to key amenities. The south side of the arena known as over the chutes will remain in place. These changes will also improve air and sound quality and address the wear and tear that comes with decades of use. Construction of phase two is set to begin after the annual fair concludes in August of 2025 and is expected to be ready to accommodate and host larger scale events and programming by next year.
The arena upgrades are set for completion in July of 2026.
Preserving Tradition & History
While the project emphasizes modernization and growth, the county plans to preserve elements of the fairgrounds' heritage. The distinctive mural currently displayed on the front of the existing grandstand will be preserved through digital technology and a part of the new remodel.
Project Funding
The renovation is funded by county economic development dollars designated for projects that stimulate local economic growth. With year-round events, the facility highlights its development into a dynamic multi-purpose and entertainment destination. The Parking Lot Improvements will have $2 Million in upgrades completed. The Arena Update will have $12 Million in upgrades completed.
